Call for paper AFRV 2011

Call for scientific papers

As in previous editions, we invite especially PhD students and young researchers or teacher-researchers to contribute to the scientific part of the AFRV conference. The proposed work must be innovative and be part of the field of virtual reality, augmented reality and 3D interaction.

In order to generate proposals for papers this year we want to promote the contributions that could be in close synergy with AFIG with emphasis on the following topics :

  • Virtual Human,
  • Physics models for simulation and interaction,
  • High performance graphics computing (real-time rendering, GPU computing, …),
  • Design of Human Computer Interface.
  •

Format : to homogenize the contributions, the format for submissions is that proposed by the Committee "IEEE Technical Committee on Visualization and Graphics." This format is used by several major international scientific events. A full description and associated files (Latex and Word) can be found at: http://www.cs.sfu.ca/ ~ vis / Tasks / camera.html

Deposit : the submission will be made electronically, in pdf format only on the disposal site following (the site is already open for submissions): http://afrv.irisa.fr/openconf/openconf.php

Scientific articles should not exceed 8 pages, while states of the art can be up to 12.

Date: Submission deadline for articles and states of the art is set for Thursday, September 15, 2011 at midnight.

Selection rule: there is no review committee. However, the organizers reserve the right to accept or reject contributions on the following criteria (not exclusive):

  • the link with the themes represented by the AFRV,
  • the number of submissions,
  • concentration of submissions from the same team (the spirit of the event is to give voice to the largest number of teams).

Since there is no review committee, a contribution to the AFRV conference is not considered as a "real" publication by academic organization such as the CNU. It is therefore quite possible (and recommended) to submit, in parallel, your contributions in journals and national or international events with review.

Contact : For any queries regarding submissions, please contact Bruno Arnaldi (bruno.arnaldi@irisa.fr) and visit the AFRV: http://www.afrv.fr

Call for Papers Lab

If you want to present your research team, please contact Alexis Paljic (alexis.paljic @ mines-paristech.fr) before Thursday, September 15, 2011. These presentations are exclusively reserved for new laboratories which have not already made a presentation to the previous AFRV conferences.

Call for Company Presentations

As in previous editions, we are particularly interested in presentations of companies that have the following objectives:

  • Provide an opportunity for manufacturers who have crossed the stage of thinking and are committed to using technology of Virtual Reality or Augmented Reality to a first feedback.
  • Define new industrial needs in virtual reality bringing out courses of ambitious research and innovation: building, planning, marketing, production, management, etc..

Format: A submission can range from a short summary or a substantive article (1 page A4 preferably with a picture up to 8 pages) for inclusion in the acts of this conference.

Contact: For any proposed action or question, please contact Indira Thouvenin ( indira.thouvenin @ utc.fr ) and visit the AFRV:  http://www.afrv.fr

Call for workshop topics

For several years, during the AFRV conferences we organize workshops in parallel. We would like to solicit your suggestions for ideas of topics that could be addressed this year.

The format is relatively simple for each conference (2 hours):

  • An animator very familiar with the subject, able to introduce the subject (problem, state of the art, developments in the field, major trends and open questions). This last point must be particularly detailed to be able to generate interest and interaction with participants (about 30 people per conference)
  • The animator can optionally be accompanied by a co-animator that address specific issues or complementary visions
  • A member of the AFRV committee can help the animator to allow exchanges and discussions with participants (the AFRV member will be selected based on its proximity and its relevance to the subject addressed).

You can also suggest a topic without being voluntary to animate it :-)

Contact: For any proposal, please contact Alexis Paljic ( alexis.paljic @ mines-paristech.fr )
